Words from the hosts

shalom haverim!

thank you meni, for starting us off on our collaborative harvest! we will be sending many juicy references, books, workbooks and websites directly to the harvest document that meni and the crew are putting together.  (including more on World Cafe, Art of Hosting and Harvesting)

however, as promised, we are sending you the Art of Social Innovation pdf which is a very clear and clean document that captures in words and images much of what we experienced together, including the chaordic ... it is a great reference for any further explorations in collaboration or innovation and hosting...you will recognize it as the one we had in our resource corner at Adama.

take a look through it, or even print it up, so you can soak in another layer of the practices, mental models and approaches we were in together over our 3 days.

i've attached here our very first collaboration ~ all of our voices woven into a collective song that we created together in circle, called  "the place from which we come"...

and once again Toda Raba gadol meod! to all of you for a deep dive into a rich and complex learning space together ~

warmly, Vanessa

Hello Friends

From Athens now - where I just come from a sobering conversation with my cousin's wife who is a pharmacist here - and is wondering if she will be able to keep her pharmacy open as there is now a big battle with take overs from corporate style pharmacies (Greece has been one of the few European countries that most pharmacies are family or independently owned).  One fact that she shared that really floored me - is that she has not been paid from the national insurance for over 4 months and is now owed €80,000 - so where is all this 'package' money that Greece is supposedly getting?  The war with the 'big system' is just so evident here it is unbelievable.

Phew - having shared this - I hope you are all well - and thank you for a truly wonderful time - I am so grateful for this time - and for this beautiful desert that is so abundant.

Be well.

Love, maria scordialos

Dear Friends

Greetings from Athens!

As promised too...with much Joy and Excitement in my heart...TODAY, my Book of Poems: The Order of Creation flies out into the World!

“The Order of Creation chronicles a pathway of living life from a perspective of wholeness through a journey guided by the voice and poetry of Sarah Whiteley. Her imagery and words dance through timelines, invisible and visible realms, archetypal characters, and into the sacred of the everyday. Sarah Whiteley’s words dock comfortably in the psyche of the soul. These poems open new avenues of experience and expression by finding long-lost memories and creating new synergies within.

The Order of Creation is the first publication from the Chronicles of Living Wholeness Book Series. This body of work chronicles the practice of intentional evolution and is sourced from the field of the Living Wholeness Practice – which hosts systemic initiatives and learning programmes as a response to this time of great transition.”

Each custom-made copy can be purchased through visiting our website, http://www.orderofcreation.org/ and will be sent directly to you or to those whom you wish to gift.  We have created a gift certificate in case you wish to give this for Christmas, as the Book may not arrive in time.  The website also holds a sample of the Book and details about the author.  Please feel welcome to share this beauty into the world through gifting your families, friends and networks, and by forwarding this email.  Enjoy!

Much love,

Sarah

Hi, I had almost a spiritual experience at the early morning flight to Kiev on Friday morning, after 2 hours of sleep and 2 days of super intensive an fulfilling days with you all.I red the "art of social innovation book" and suddenly all pieces of the puzzle fell into the right places. A clarity about what Sarah, Venssa and Maria did, abut the work of the group, about the powerful presentation of maria. So already at that day in Kiev, and this week in Haifa and Raanana, I already played with this new understanding. Thanks to all!!!Ron

Hello dear friends,

Instead of echoing what everyone have already said,

I prefer to plant a thought for one of the amazing ideas that came up during the pro-active cafe,

Gabe - looks like someone is already doing "Guerrila Happiness" in NY...

Hi Meni and Hevda,

Great to hear from you. Can't believe it but I am leaving Israel this evening to return to the states. It's been such a rich and meaningful and challenging time here. One of the clear highlights of my 5 months in Israel was the retreat in Mitspe and I've thought a lot about it over the past month or so.

I found the conference to be a breath of fresh air amidst a challenging time for me caught up in the complexities and difficult realities of life in Jerusalem and this region. The people I met, especially the Israeli's were so interesting and I gained a real sense for the diversity of Israel and the opinions of Israelis. Much different than the bubble I've been living in in Jerusalem. I gained some important perspective on hosting - particularly related to the power of "chaordic" space and the idea that this is where true emergence happens. I think this is fascinating and am using this concept in my daily life, shedding attachments that don't serve me and being open to what needs to grow. I loved the Open Space concept and really appreciated practicing this at the conference. Professionally, so many of the conferences I attend are jam packed with no room for reflection or little attention to what people are actually thinking and feeling. I enjoyed the opportunity to host the check-in on the 2nd day. Leading a niggun under the geodesic dome was a real treat. I think music is an important way to create space and shift energy and for people to connect and model what it is like to harmonize with one another and wordless melodies make it accessible to all. I can't forget to mention how wonderful the food at the conference was and what a difference it makes when the food is intentional and slow cooked and from the heart, Lastly, I want to wish Archinool good luck as it enters the next phase of development. I have such faith in this community of amazing hosts to make transformational change here in Israel and beyond. Thank you for letting me be a part of this.

Also, I should mention that the other night my wife Adina and I hosted a lounge night for a group of 25 friends or so in our apartment in Jerusalem. After a cocktail hour we gathered in front of a stage that we created and heard offerings from everyone there related to their thoughts on their experience in Israel and creations they had made over the past several months. Everyone had 5 minutes to present. We heard songs, niggunim, poems, spoken word, excerpts from books written here, thoughts on pottery crafted here, etc. It was one of the most special nights I can remember. Yitzchak, Vanessa and Gabe were also there.

Much love,

Jeff

Art of Collaborative Place Making // ArchiNool Workshop

7-9/12/2011 Mitspe Ramon

I most enjoyed meeting new people and spending more time with the Archinool core.

I was specifically interested by the impact and effectiveness of the small groups methods practiced in the workshop.

The Open Space Technology has raised diverse and extremely interesting issues, and I felt that people had a chance to deepen into subjects of their interest.

The devotion of the group was moving and productive.

The pro-action cafe was very productive as well. The Archinool session within it was interesting and I felt more of it was missing, how to further develop and practice project Archinool and the Archinool’s project.

I enjoyed Maria’s talk about process architecture and the Chaordic. I was curious to understand more about how to frame the Chaordic stage, how long should it be and how to reach a decision, as there will always be more ideas, interest holders, etc. It seemed to me like it was a comprehensive was to involve the public in understanding what it is they want, more than how to actualise it. This was left, by my understanding to the politicians and the experts.

Following the workshop I felt that the issues of the workshop and of Archinool are a culture of collaboration, negotiation, openness, culture of how to share ideas and questions, and how to develop them together. The art of hosting method helps those things to happen within a specific space and time.

This is the poem that I wrote during the last session on Friday:

I heard a wise man say that Goddess blew the space so God could come in and do his thing

Inviting space

creating a field

a collective field

existence of co-creation

breathing interconnectedness

Doing is just an excuse, and yet,it's a kind of prayer

here is for a better world

thank you,tsila

*****************************

I loved the workshop, it was so wisely and lovingly held, and all were very wise and cooperative as a consequence.

it was touching for me to share the space with people who shared a wish to make this place a better one,and also are willing to take the time and make an effort to do so

Personally,I was focused on the method, the "how",and I gained a lot from the explanations that were given generously and were so articulated

I could sense that  those who came with the desire to have more concrete results, were a bit frustrated.

It was a very delicate dance between content and method,a satisfactory dance for me, maybe not so much for others

there were moments when I found myself wanting to stay longer in a session, when there was a meaningful conversation happening, example was when Hedva facilitated the talk on meaningful places,I wanted to stay there for a longer time, to here more from people who are different then me, to be inspired and to challenge myself.

I found myself thinking about a coming gathering, when we would dive in and  touch personal motivations, feelings and ideas deeply, to find out what is architecture for each and every one of you,i am sure there will be treasures found there in the personal. This is what I refer to as process architecture,an intimate design process

i felt a bit sad to find out in the very last moment that some people were not happy at all with what was happening, I wish they would have expressed their feelings and thoughts earlier, so we could benefit from their voiced, there is always a hidden wisdom in diversity,i believe, ,and also the feelings of separation would not be there,as a last taste, for us and for them.

again I thank you for loving, organizing , inviting and sharing and for the insights I gained.

with love

tsila

Great stuff!

Many many thanks Vanessa and to all the marvelous people who have made this happen.

I am enjoying the chaordic  of my life much more these days since the time down south.

Now I even have a theory to back it up!

I will try to write some thoughts for our common Harvest soon

Hi!! I'm happy that at last I'm writing down my contribution to this "katsir"….

Straight to the point:I'm not going to describe all the experience, only several parts  that were outstanding for me.

·         At the beginning,in the appreciative inquire,we were asked to share a story of when we have faced a fundamental change  or evolution where collaboration had an important role to get to a new level of ourselves….

I realize, without the need of including here my personal story or the one of my partner, that a transformational process of that kind only can take place when you are really envolved, moved or in a relationship with the people you are collaborating with. The emotional factor is the change making element needed to make the difference.

·         Then,we collected some of the principles of collaboration,that I resume:Straightness,Intimacy(trust),Presence,Openmindfulness,Joy,Playfulness…

I would add Humanity,as the force that make us "to be" for others…..

·         The process of dealing with a community conflict, that requires a process of collaboration to solve it,was exampled by  Maria, that explained the dynamics of the divergence-convergence scheme of a process (including the possibility of emergence-where the real innovation and creation occurs- if the process is well developed). Was also explained that ,in order to develop the process ,we have to create the space for it:This space has the character of the "chaordic"(Between chaos and order) that joins the freedom and the unpredictability of the chaotic and the frame of some kind order (without getting to the less flexible"control" field)to be optimal. For example, the way we chose "the right question" in the world café,gives the precise frame(order) for the creative process to happen in a fruitful way.

·         When we explored the Open Space technology,we had the possibility to participate in different groups, and also in different ways:you could "move" between different issues and feel where you want to be and how.

·         We had to deal  between the difficulty to choose between interesting themes and participating fully in one(maybe two) or choose to go around different groups, being involved in more issues and integrating  them partially, skiping parts of the development of the theme.I had both experiences. The first round of the open space, was interesting, but I felt we didn't get to the emergence point in any of them,we stayed with almost the same statements we knew before then, everything was very "correct"!!!In the second part,There was a more intimate talk, and although didn't lead to revolutionary thoughts, but we could express more personal views of the issue, and was far more creative.

·         I had a great experience in the seminar.Mostly because of the warm presence and humanity  of the integrants, the goodness and the commitment they showed  was moving for me.Was also interesting to open up to the matter and the techniques of community creation and problemsolving.I think we couldn't realize the real possibilities of using those technics, because our commitment to the issues that appear in the field were casual, and not something we took real responsibility on.But we could play the game for a while ,and for me was a great "tasting"!!!

I was really touched by the personalities of the three teachers and the commitment to their work. Also, was great to see the (garin)people of Archinool and their motivation…,and all the people that found themselves in Mitspe at this time, moved by their love, responsibility and good will…..Incredible people!!

In a personal way,it opened possibilities that were not in my "catalogue" before (I already proposed to organize an open space event  in a project that is developing in the druze community in the galilee…)

Also,as I said in the closure,is important to practice this tools in our closest communities, like family or work; and not only in the places that  are"outside" of us….

Thanks a lot for this great opportunity, and see you soon!!!
